Dr. Samaniego was born in Texas to a physician, the late Hector X. Samaniego, Sr., MD. His father practiced medicine for over 40 years in San Antonio in Family Practice, Family Medicine Doctor & Psychiatrist and Obstetrics/Gynecology. He was a Bexar County Medical Examiner for many years.

Dr. Samaniego, Jr. (Dr. Sam) attended Texas Military Institute and was pre-med at St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, Texas. He attended Medical School at the University of Southern California/UTESA and graduated in 1984.

Dr. Samaniego completed his first residency in Family Medicine at the New Jersey College of Medicine at St. Mary’s Hospital in Hoboken, NJ. He immediately started a second residency training in Adult Psychiatry at Columbia University, St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City, and specialized with a fellowship in child/adolescent psychiatry here in San Antonio at UTHSC. He has practiced for over 30 years here in San Antonio, gaining the respect of another generation of physicians in the process.

They have some good doctors here... also appointments are fast. They don't take long. We are always out by an hour..They like to take their time to learn everything about you and they hear your problems or whatever. They are awesome... I have a 7yr old and 11 yr old that come see them... They tell you it's not an overnight thing. It takes time to get your kids adjusted to the meds and the right 1... I love it here. He is so nice and funny he speak English and Spanish..Also restrooms and the rooms are always clean.. but I recommend this place for yourself or your kids. They care about you and try their best to help you..
